Our services include:
The Independent Living Centre (ILC) of South Australia is a State Government funded service which provides information and advice on equipment, technology and techniques to assist people to improve their quality of life and maintain their independence.
The service is staffed by Occupational Therapists and a Registered Nurse (Continence Resource Centre) and is available to all members of the public, including people with a disability, injury or illness, carers, community groups, health professionals, organisations and students.
Services to the public are all free of charge.
Phone or email a health professional for individualised advice. We will answer your questions, provide guidance in selecting the right equipment option for individuals and send information by post, fax or email.
You can browse through and trial an extensive range of equipment. Health professionals are available to provide assistance. Brochures, information sheets and product information are also available.
Please book an appointment for detailed advice and to ensure staff availability. We can negotiate to have specific items available on request where possible.
Education and Training:
Our health professionals provide talks and displays for community groups and exhibitions, and can demonstrate a selection of equipment. We also deliver professional development workshops on equipment and related topics to health professionals, university and TAFE students. Please contact us for further information and to make a booking.
Our mobile unit outreach service is a statewide service for those living in rural and remote regions. We have a wheelchair-accessible caravan with a large selection of equipment and information sheets. The outreach service is staffed by a health professional to provide individualised advice. No appointments are necessary. Please contact us to find out when we are next visiting your area.
Information sheets on selecting equipment are available from the display or can be emailed or posted by request.
A second-hand register is available containing details on equipment offered for sale by members of the public. The ILC is not involved in the selling, viewing or handling of the products on the second-hand register but can pass on or record details of available products and contacts.

Continence Resource Centre (CRC):
The Continence Resource Centre (CRC) is a statewide continence information and advisory service located at the Independent Living Centre of South Australia. The CRC is affiliated with the Continence Foundation of Australia and is funded by the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion.
Staffed by Registered Nurse/Continence Nurse Advisor, the CRC provides information and advice on bladder and bowel problems. Information is available to all community members including clients, carers, families and health professionals.
The services provided include: information and advice on continence management, continence services, continence product funding schemes and continence product information (including an extensive product display). Continence health promotion and education sessions are also provided by the service in both metropolitan and rural areas of the state.
The Continence Resource Centre is open to the public from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. People may visit the centre by appointment, or phone, fax or email enquiries. An interpreter may be available by prior arrangement. CRC services are all free of charge.
