A range of switches that can be activated by sipping or blowing on a straw. Some models allow extra activations for long sips or long puffs. The straw attaches to a small box containing the switch mechanism. One or more switch cables with 3.5mm connectors are used to interface with the device to be controlled. Optional bed, neck and head mounts are available.

Sip and Puff Switch
A simple Sip and Puff switch that uses either sip or puff for switch closure and activation.
Sip and Puff Switch (double closure)
Sipping on the switch results in one switch closure and puffing on the same tube will result in a second switch closure.
The tube is mounted into a 330mm gooseneck with a 3-way mounting clamp.
Double Sip Switch (double closure)
A small sip will result in switch activation, further sipping will continue the first activation and provide a second activation.
The tube of this switch is mounted into a gooseneck with a 3-way clamp.
Double Puff Switch (double closure)
Similar to the Double Sip Switch, except the double switch closure is activated by puffing on the tube.
Double Puff and Double Switch
4 switch closures are provided by this switch.
Sub-Micronic Filter
A Sub-Micronic Filter traps mucous and saliva reducing the risk of infection. (Available from Technical Solutions)
Factors to Consider
Some breath support is required to use switches activated using sip/puff functions.
Suitable for a user with limited physical function, but has adequate sip/ puff skills.
Switch tubes need to be cleared of saliva.
Tube length can influence the force required for switch activation.
User fatigue can reduce effective use. Sensitivity adjustments may assist in reducing demands on the user.
