Cleaning Requirements

Wipe with sponge or cloth which as been moistened in warm soapy water, then dry with a clean cloth. Non-phenolic disinfectants are recommended in a diluted solution.

Inspect mat regularly for cuts and tears.

CONNECTION:

The Pelican Stand-Up Floor Alarm may connect to the Nurse Call System or to an alarm box.

When connecting to the Nurse Call System, the alarm sounds at the Nurses' Station so that there is no noise in the bedroom. The system is powered by the Nurse Call System.

When connecting to the alarm box, the noise sounds from the box. The alarm will continue until it is manually switched off. Volume of the alarm is adjustable, however it is recommended to ensure that volume is sufficient to be heard from carer's location. There is an option for a 10 metre extension cord so that the box can be placed in an alternate room (however care must be taken with placement of the cord connecting mat to the alarm box that this does not become a tripping hazard). The alarm box is powered by a 9 volt battery, and comes with a hook so this can be hung on the head-board of the bed.

Installation

Install the mat so that the edge of the mat is slightly under the bed and the cord from the mat to the Nurse Call System or alarm box runs under the bed (to minimise risk of tripping on the cord). The alarm box can be hooked onto the headboard of the bed or located in another room.
