General Details
- Extra product information
The mattress has 23 individual Goretex air cells separated into four groups. The Goretex is self sealing, so pin pricks will not harm it. It comes with Goretex sheets. The bed has an epoxy coated steel frame.
A computer controls the air pumps that fill the air cells and regulate the air pressure inside the cells. The bed automatically weighs the person on the bed and formulates the appropriate air pressure to support their weight and size.
The air pulsation provides a constant change in the pressure exerted on the body from the mattress, therefore eliminating pressure areas. Pulsation rate can be adjusted from 2.5 minutes to 30 minutes (up and down the bed once). Using the bed only requires people to be turned 2-3 times per day.
A computer control panel is situated at the end of the bed and slides away under the bed to prevent it being adjusted. There is also a lockable device on the computer to prevent the settings from being tampered with. There is a hand held remote control that enables the bed to be adjusted in height, head tilt, leg tilt, Trendelenburg position and full bed tilt.
The bed has a heater with adjustable temperature and an indicator light for when it is on.To facilitate getting on and off the bed there is a release switch that deflates three central cells when in the sitting position to enable the person to touch the ground and provide a firm base to stand up from.
"INSTAFLATE" fully inflates all cushions to provide a firm surface for routine care. This is done by turning a knob situated at the side of the bed clockwise. Turning it anti clockwise returns the bed to its normal setting. An alarm will sound if the bed is left in INSTAFLATE too long.
The bedside rails are raised by pulling them out from their tucked position under the bed and pulling them up in a semi circular motion. To put them down a release lever is pushed and the rail returns in the semi circle and is pushed back under the bed.
The bed also features a CPR quick release lever, also situated on the side of the bed, which when flipped toward the head of the bed deflates the cushions in seconds, leaving the person on the firm bed base. This can also be used to facilitate getting on and off of the bed.
The bed also features its own power supply, so that if power is cut it will fully inflate and remain so for 3 hours. This is useful for transferring the bed between rooms with the person on it.
ATTACHMENT Each cell is individually attached to the base.
MATERIAL Cushions and sheets made from Goretex which is breathable and impermeable to fluid. Goretex is self sealing for small punctures.
REPAIR Individual air cells can be replaced in the event of a tear or cut, and patched with tape until replacement.
CONTROLS are located on a slide out control panel at the foot of the bed, and on a remote control.
PUMP Air flows to the mattress from two air pumps located under the bed.
POWER SOURCE is through a mains power point.
SAFETY FEATURES The mattress has an emergency deflate and battery back up in case of power failure, so the bed remains inflated.
BRAKES are lever pedal type on all four castors.
