A pressure reduction mattress consisting of a foam base surround and water, gel and air filled bladders.
General Details
Cleaning Requirements
The dartex should be wiped clean with a non bleach based disinfectant.
Extra product information
Consists of a firm foam mattress base and sides, with one air / foam filled bladder for the head area, and three filled with water and a gelling substance for the middle and foot areas.
An insulating cover encloses the bladders and mattress and is held in place with a zip. The upper outside cover is made from Dartex, the lower outside cover is made from Mediflex. A layer of low resilience foam lies between the upper surface and the bladders. The cushions are housed in plastic vinyl bags.
All seams are lap welded.
COVER The outer dartex cover is attached to the mattress, vinyl side out. It is water resistant, vapour permeable and has a three way stretch. The outer Mediflex cover is water resistant, with no stretch capabilities. The inner cover is also water resistant and has a two way stretch.
Method of Use
The mattress base is designed for use on hospital beds. It is placed on the bed base with the low resilience foam facing upwards.
The bladders are filled with up to 13 litres of water, with a 'Blue Magic' conditioning tablet added. The tablet causes the water to become gel like and acts as a fungicide. The degree to which the water becomes gel like can be varied according to the amount of Blue Magic introduced.
The cushion placed under the head is air filled. The air cushion is recommended for adjustable back rests on beds, as the air will not displace.
Maintenance
