An interface allowing an air conditioner to be controlled with an environmental control unit (ECU). The interface incorporates the Ultra Plus Universal AC Remote which is compatible with most Australian air conditioners. The interface is able to be used with most infrared remote control ECUs (those that can reproduce Gewa PROG signals). In cases where the Ultra Plus is not compatible with an air conditioner, an existing remote control can be modified and attached to the interface unit.
General Details
Compatibility (System Requirements)
The supplier states that in rare cases where the Ultra Plus is not compatible with an air conditioner, Technical Solutions can modify the existing remote control. In this case, the original remote must be sent to Technical Solutions and it will be modified by permanently being attached to the interface unit.
Method of Use
1. The user points their ECU device (i.e. infra-red remote) to the Air Conditioner Remote Control IR Interface.
2. The Air Conditioner IR Interface receives the infra-red signal and activates the air conditioner remote, as if the button on it has been pressed. The display on the air conditioner remote shows the status of the air conditioner.
Extra product information
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The interface is mounted behind the Universal AC Ultra Plus Air Conditioner Remote Control. Both the interface and AC remote control are fixed to a standing base. The infrared sender is located on the front of the interface, above the base.
OPERATION: The infra-red (IR) signals normally emitted from an air conditioner remote control are complex and hence this is why it is difficult to program IR signals from a standard air conditioner remote control directly into another ECU remote e.g. the Control PROG.
The purpose of the built-in interface is to receive the simpler infra-red signal derived from an external ECU remote. The interface then translates this signal into the air conditioner's own complex codes to operate the air conditioner functions.
However, if the Universal AC Ultra Plus Air Conditioner Remote Control is not compatible with the individual's own air conditioner, Technical Solutions can attach another AC Remote Control i.e. the individual's own AC remote, to the ECU Interface. The individual must send their AC remote control to the supplier.
CONTROLS: Functions that can be controlled by the Air Conditioner Remote Control IR Interface include:
Power on/off
Temperature up/down
Fan functions
