Soft padded foam bumpers which rest between the mattress and the inside of a bed rail. They are shaped so the upper part of the bumper extends over the top of the mattress. This aims to prevent limbs or other body parts from becoming trapped between the rail and mattress.

Entrapment of limbs or body parts may occur within the rails, or between the rails and the bed. This may occur to those having a seizure, or rolling over in bed, or if unstable while transferring out of bed.
· Bed rails can cause some occupants to become anxious while in bed. They may try to climb over the rails, particularly if the occupant has a condition such as dementia.

· If a bed occupant rolls so their face is up against this item, it may reduce their ability to breathe and may result in suffocation.
