A battery powered remote device to disable a moving scooter. The device comes in two parts. One part is plugged into the charger port of the scooter. The other part has a button which is pressed to remotely disable the scooter. May also be used to disable powered wheelchairs. May be customised. May be permanently built into the scooter or wheelchair.

Features
The scooter stopper has a 'male' three pin connector. The scooter or powered wheelchair requires a 'female' three pin charger point

Range
Range of approximately 100metres in a straight line
Operating environment will alter the effective range of the scooter stopper

Batteries
Battery operated device which uses one 9 volt battery
When the red indicator flashes slowly on the remote unit this indicates that the battery needs replacing

Method of Use
To disable (stop) a scooter or powered wheelchair from a distance
Press the blue button labelled '1' to test that the battery is working
Plug the scooter stopper into the charger port of the scooter or powered wheelchair
The user is asked to drive the scooter or powered wheelchair
To disable a scooter or powered wheelchair and bring it to a stop, press the blue button labelled '1'
The scooter will stop and a beeping sound may be heard on some scooters or powered wheelchairs
To reactivate the mobility device, un-plug the scooter stopper from the charger port and turn the scooter or powered wheelchair off and on again
Plug the scooter stopper back into the charger port and check the mobility device is operating

Factors to Consider

May be custom built into a scooter or powered wheelchair so that the user does not have to remember to attach the device before use
May be useful in a situation where the user does not have full control of the scooter or does not see a potential hazard
May be used during scooter training
Cannot be used with mobility equipment that has an on-board charger
It is not intended to replace appropriate care and supervision of a mobility device user
It is important to determine compatibility with a mobility device before use
