Press the alarm mute button to suspend the low pressure alarm. Should the problem not be resolved within 5 minutes, the alarm will resume.
Inflate mode is the default mode when the power is turned on. When the maximum pressure level is reached, the pump will switch to Alternating.
Alternate mode. The normal operating mode of the system. Alternates every ten minutes.
Static mode. Stops the mattress alternating. Reverts back to alternating after 20 minutes.
Sitting mode. Additional seat pressure activated during backrest elevation to prevent bottoming out. May be activated in combination with the static mode or alone.
Lock feature. Should the panel remain untouched for five minutes the panel lock will prevent accidental changing of the setting during normal operation. To unlock, press and hold the Panel lock for 3 seconds.
Method of Use
Connect the pump to the mattress.
Turn on the pump.
The mattress will take 20 minutes to fully inflate.
When the pump is started it begins the inflation mode and then changes to Alternate.
Once Alternate is illuminated the attendant sets the pressure to the appropriate weight of the client and makes adjustments for user comfort and clearance.
Once fully inflated and the user is laying on the mattress it is essential to test for clearance of at least 50mm between the user's sacrum and the base of the overlay.
Press the Therapy button to choose mode.

Factors to Consider

There are many things to consider when selecting pressure care products including nutrition, skin moisture, level of mobility, age shear, friction, location of pressure ulcer (if present) and hygiene. Any comments regarding level of pressure care is a suggestion made by suppliers as a guide to assist with selection, and this may differ from brand to brand. When selecting pressure care products it is strongly advised that a comprehensive assessment is undertaken by a health professional to encourage correct product selection and monitoring of product effectiveness.

The static mode may be used while someone goes to sleep if they are finding it hard to fall asleep with the alternating mode.
The static mode allows attendants to perform therapy on a stable level surface.
Once fully inflated and the user is laying on the mattress it is essential to test for clearance of at least 50mm between the user's sacrum and the base of the mattress.
All mattress replacements and overlays must be monitored to prevent bottoming out. This occurs when the weight of the occupant bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed below the pressure reducing surface. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (such as correct inflation level), a different product may need to be considered.
The manually operated pressure control dial will require an attendant to know how to set the degree of inflation (for instance, semi recumbent or side lying).
· The cell movement and noise from the pump can be disturbing for some occupants.
Cells are separate to one another so may allow for movement apart from one another.
A one in four cell cycle may provide more comfort than a one in two cell cycle for those disturbed by movement of the cells.
A dial is used to adjust the cell pressure, and the cells may lose pressure if people tamper with it increasing the risk of bottoming out (people with dementia in a residential home for instance).
The tubes that inflate the cells are rubber and may be prone to reduce air flow if kinked or squashed.
An alternating mattress may be contraindicated for those with an unstable fracture.
