A wandering person alarm system that alerts a carer when someone is trying to go out of the door. Infrared detectors are mounted above the doorway and once movement is detected, a buzzer or a strobe light is activated. Other options are available. It is designed for healthcare facility use.

Components
Control box which houses the receiver, call input and alert system circuit board needs to be connected to a mains power supply.
Power pack which connects the control box to the mains power supply.
A surface mount passive infra-red (PIR) detector mounted to a transmitter box.Power
Control box needs to be connected to a 240V mains power outlet at all times.
Requires installation of a power point above the top of the door.
Power backup of up to 3 hours in case of a power failure.Activation
Can be interfaced with an existing nurse call system.
Alarm can be set to trigger prior to the person crossing the door threshold.
When alarm is triggered an alert will be sent to the call screen or to a pager.- Factors to Consider
This system is an aid only and does not replace adequate supervision.
Ensure that any cords and leads are secured as trailing leads can create a trip hazard.- Installation
Do it yourself installation.
Mount the sensor supplied with double sided tape above the doorway.
The control box can be located where the carer is primarily situated or within the hearing and visual range of the carer.- Method of Use
Door sensor needs to be mounted at the top of the doorway.
Control box can be situated where carer is usually located or within hearing or visual range.
The alarm is activated once movement is detected close to the doorway.
To turn off the alarm, carer has to turn off the switch in the control box.
