Powered Scooters - safety advice for use
Test you can drive the power scooter safely and with ease before buying it. Check local power scooter road rules and follow them. Only drive in areas scooter is designed for.
This item should be trialled in the user's own environment to ensure maximum safety and independence. Environmental considerations include e.g.: kerbs, footpaths, tram and railway crossings, street crossings, etc.
Extra product information
The scooter has an epoxy coated steel frame and fibreglass cowlings and wheel covers. There is slip resistant synthetic matting on the base. It has a horn and reflectors. There are two seat options available. The tiller angle is adjustable.
TRANSPORTING the scooter is facilitated by folding the tiller. The seat and batteries remove, and the base is separated into two parts.
FREEWHEELING mechanism is operated by push button on the control pad. The scooter will not free wheel until the throttle is pulled in either direction.
BATTERY CHARGING is achieved by connecting the charger provided to a mains power point and plugging it into the scooter at the charging terminal on the tiller.
BATTERIES are stored in separate fibreglass boxes under the seat.
REAR WHEELS are 300mm diameter, pneumatic.
FRONT WHEEL is 300mm diameter, pneumatic.
SEAT is either vinyl or fabric covered, depending on the model selected. Operating lever for seat swivel may be situated under the left or right hand side of the seat. The lever is pulled up towards the seat to release the lock.
CONTROLS are plastic finger operated lever style for acceleration and reverse functions. A flat control pad has touch buttons with four speed settings, horn and free wheel mechanism. It has an illuminated display for battery status. The on / off mechanism is operated via a key and then pressing the on / off button on the control pad.
BRAKES are electromagnetic.

Licensing and Insurance Requirements
You are legally required to advise your State licensing authority of any medical condition or disability that may impact on your driving. If not, you risk fines or legal action and your car insurance can be affected. You may need to provide medical reports or undergo driving tests. Modifications to your vehicle must be in line with the Australian safety and design rules. Fitting of wheelchair occupant restraints, child restraints and vehicle hoist ramps must meet relevant Australian Standards. Modifications should be done by suitably qualified vehicle modifiers. You will also need to inform your car insurer of any vehicle modifications. Your policy may become void if you do not do so. Contact the vehicle licensing / registration authority in your State for more information.
