Caution: Emergency Call Systems - '000'

It is important to be aware that 000 calls from automated devices (such as emergency call systems) cannot be guaranteed a response from the emergency services if they are unable to validate the condition, address and required response. It is therefore not recommended to program 000 into a non-monitored emergency call system (or autodialling system).

Factors to Consider

Please note the supplier advises this system is not suitable with a Tin Roof. Recommendation regarding pacemakers advises that it should be used as a belt clip or wrist watch option.

Method of Use

When help is needed, the user should press the SOS button for 3 seconds and an audible tone will be made. The device will text and sequentially call up to 5 emergency contacts. Whoever answers first is the one that the user can speak with in a two-way conversation. The emergency text messages include a link to Google Maps showing the user’s GPS location.
Whether the call is answered by a person or goes to voicemail, each contact will be called until all contacts have received a call or the ProTec user aborts the sequence of calls by pressing the SOS button briefly. For example, if the call goes to voicemail and then automatically disconnects after 1 minute, the ProTec will
call the next contact in sequential order. As long as the ProTec user does not press the SOS button, the unit will continue to call each contact in sequence. If the user makes a call by accident, pressing the SOS button hangs up the call.

The device can also directly call one stored number by pressing the phone icon button located on the side.

It is capable of receiving calls from anyone who knows the device contact number. The speaker is under the multiple holes on the back on the unit. These holes should face the persons ear. The microphone is under the single hole at the bottom of the device.

If any of the emergency contacts need to find the user, they need only text the letters “loc” to the phone number of the Mobile Alert. They will receive a reply text with a link to its location on Google Maps.

Water Resistant – Water may be splashed on it, but best to use with care when showering
Care must be taken with the Guardian ProTec while showering because soap or shampoo can infiltrate and damage the electronics. However, if you decide to take it into the shower, we recommend you hang it on a hook or place it onto a low ledge above drain level where you can easily reach it. Be aware that chemical infiltration (e.g. soap/shampoo), even soapy water, may permanently disable this product and void your warranty. A shower bag is available to ensure it can be worn in the shower without causing any damage to the device.
