NAO is an interactive robot which moves, recognises, hears and talks to people. The robot has two cameras, a sensor which lets him know whether he is upright or sitting down, touch sensors, and four directional microphones. Aldebaran has created an online application store, from which the robot can download new behaviors on its own. NAO also has applications for rehabilitation and special education. Some of the current projects include research into rehabilitating brain and spinal cord injuries at the Royal Children’s Hospital, and assisting those with Autism.
