The Omeo is a hands-free personal mobility device that steers by leaning the upper body in the direction of travel (or can be controlled via handgrip or joystick). Wider deep-tread tyres are available for off-road use. Good dynamic sitting balance and trunk control is required for use.
General Details
Caution: Load Capacity for Powered Wheelchairs
The load capacity of a powered wheelchair may change according to the type of ground the wheelchair is used on. The supplier stated load capacity may have been given for a powered wheelchair that has been tested on flat ground. However, the powered wheelchair's load capacity, performance and stability may change when the powered wheelchair is used on an incline. These factors, including the maximum gradient on which a powered wheelchair should be safely used, should be discussed with the supplier.
Options
* rubberized breathable compound on seat - this does not get as hot as regular cover, however may "stick" more on transfer
* colour options - currently green, blue, orange, purple and black
Extra product information
The Omeo body is constructed from high density polyethylene and is water resistant.
SECURITY FEATURES: the Omeo can only be started with a remote control, and will switch off automatically if the operator "falls out". If anyone tries to move the Omeo without the remote controller, an alarm will sound.
STEERING: steering options include hands free (lean upper body to direct the Omeo), handgrip or joystick. The joystick and other controls can be positioned on either side.
SAFETY FEATURES: the Omeo has built-in safety features that will shut it down; eg. the Omeo will stop if it comes up against a high kerb or obstruction that it cannot climb over, reducing the risk of it tipping backwards.
OTHER FEATURES INCLUDE:
* front and rear lights and reflectors
* storage compartment
* USB charging port
* multi-purpose holder for accessories (eg. cup, fishing rod, umbrella, tray, smartphone, tablet).
SEATING: cushion is hi tech gel, however this can be removed and replaced with user's own pressure cushion. The seat cover is vinyl and removable for washing.
Caution: Powered Wheelchairs & Scooters
This item should be trialled in the user's home environment to ensure maximum safety and independence. Environmental considerations include kerbs, footpaths, road, railway crossing, etc.
The supplier recommends users ensure they are competent before going into public areas, with at least 60 minutes practice recommended.
Users should take care when riding a powered wheelchair and observe the following safety guidelines:
• Users who intend to use powered wheelchairs must ensure they have the necessary physical and cognitive skills to operate and manoeuvre them safely
• Stay within the legal speed limit of 10km/h. While the Omeo is manufactured to manage up to 20km/h, this can be factory set to be limited to 10km/h to ensure compliance with legal regulations
• Be aware that taking medication or driving under the influence of alcohol may affect the user's judgement
• Always make sure that you are clearly visible, particularly at night or on dull days-use the lights and reflectors and install a reflective flag high enough to be seen by motorists
• Wear a safety helmet whenever possible
• Slow down when near other people, especially pedestrians and cyclists
• Avoid stopping or driving on inclines greater than the scooter or powered wheelchair is designed for
• Use footpaths if possible. If there are no foot paths, plan to user quieter roads
• Plan the trip and avoid uneven surfaces, dips and potholes
• Ensure when carrying parcels that the load will not over-balance your scooter or powered wheelchair and the parcels do not interfere with controls or vision.
