The Low Pressure Therapy System consists of an air pump and mattress consisting of 200 mm deep air cells with a waterproof cover. The alternating pressure massages and changes contact points with the skins surface every five minutes. The degree of pressure is adjusted by a switch on the pump. A CPR valve can be used for emergency deflation.
General Details
Caution
All pressure reduction products must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion or mattress. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct inflation levels), a different product may need to be considered.
Specific inflation levels are critical (see manufacturer's instructions).
Ensure that the item is not accidentally placed upside down or back to front.
Ensure the item is correctly inflated at all times.
Ensure the CPR release (an emergency release handle allowing rapid deflation of the mattress for coronary pulmonary resuscitation) is set correctly.
