General Details
Extra product information
The FoamAir Overlay - is designed to assist in the prevention and management of pressure ulcers for people who are at medium to high risk. Available in single and double bed sizes.
This overlay is a combination of foam and air flotation. A central removable section (window) allows an air flotation section to be inserted. This provides maximum protection to the sacral area.
The foam component of the mattress overlay consists of independent, self adjusting cells. The cells self-adjust to the weight and profile of the surface with which it is in contact. The cell network disperses the
pressure, minimises friction and sheer forces and increases aeration. The air flotation component is a 'Kineris' air flotation mattress section.
Technical Specifications:
Enduro Foam - Density 36kg/m3
Tear resistance 300N/m minimum
Tensile strength 100 Kpa minimum
Meets BS582/Source 5 flammability standards
Comments
- The design provides flexibility of the product. This allows the product to be used in a range of situations and can used in the prevention of a pressure ulcer or in the management of an established ulcer.
- The waterproof cover is soft but strong and loosely fitted in order to optimise the operation of the network of cells and not to impede pressure care.
- The foam component is a high quality 'Enduro' foam.
- The design of the foam section ensures low shearing forces thus allowing for more even distribution of pressure.
To inflate the Kineris section,
1. Open the valve in the Kineris mattress by turning it in an anti-clockwise direction.
2. Inflate with the air pump until the Kineris is half-filled with air. Cells should not be too swollen. Close the valve.
3. Put the person on the mattress and make sure that the pelvis rests completely on it. Put your hand palm upwards under the bony prominences, open the valve to let the air go out. Close the valve once the back of your hand is touching the base of Kineris.
4. If Kineris is overinflated, open the valve. The person's weight will deflate Kineris. If you wish to inflate some more, repeat the above instructions (1).
