The boards can be used on their own or in conjunction with slide pads and mats which sit on top of the board and provide a low friction 'glide' across the surface of the board. Slide boards can also be customised. Pelican manufacture a range of slide pads/mats and information on these can be obtained from the ILC ACT.

The Boomerang (Model 590FB6 is 6 mm thick, light to carry and Model 590FB10 is 10mm thick) - the Boomerang is curved, with the curve designed to go around the wheel of a wheelchair. Its Poly material construction is strong and self-lubricating. Acccording to the manufacturer the outer surface may mark easily and give the appearance of looking 'second hand' however this does not detract from the product's strength and durability. The board also features a webbing carrying loop.

The Hip/Shoulder board( item no.586) - this board is made from grey 3mm thick PVC and used in pairs, eg two boards are needed - one under the shoulder and a second board under the hips. Together they are used to slide people horizontally across (to and from) the bed to a trolley. Suitable for small gaps between bed and trolley but may break with large gaps over 15 to 20cm.

The Stubby (item no.588) - this is a compact rectangular board and according to the manufacturer it is designed for use by people who have good upper limb strength and coordination, eg who can transfer
independently or with minimal assistance. The board features a webbed carrying loop and can be used with a range of slide mats and pads if required.

The Slide Board Trolley (item no.585) - This board is made from 3mm thick grey PVC and is used to transfer people on/off a trolley.

Wheelchair Cut-Out Board (item no.589) - This board features a cut-out section which is designed to accommodate the rear wheel of a wheelchair. Designed for transfers from wheelchair to car, bed and chair.
