Worksafe issued a Safety and Health alert in March 2007 regarding portable overhead patient hoists. Some of these hoist systems are supplied with an arm extension used to attach the hoist unit to the overhead track. If the arm extension has an open hook there is a risk that the hook may be displaced during operation when moved laterally or rotated.

Recommendations:
Open hooks used to attach a hoist unit to the overhead track should be provided with a safety catch.
Hooks used as a means of suspension on any other patient hoist must be designed to minimise the risk of displacement.

The ceiling track is white, powder coated, aluminium which can be mounted in one room or throughout a house or facility.

The track is available in standard straight and curved lengths which can be cut at the time of installation to suit a wide range of configurations. The track is mounted onto the ceiling; the hoist attaches to the track and holds a spreader bar with one hook at each end to attach the sling loops.

It has a room to room transfer feature where the door header is in the way or where the ceiling heights vary. It is operated by a hand held, pneumatic control with raised buttons. It is available with manual or powered movement along the track (traverse).

The transactive Plus (TA+ 800) lift has a single lifting motor. The transactive Plus lifts come standard with a hand control hook. The charger, carry bar, and charger end stop are included in the base price. The carry bar and specialized adapter for RTR lifts is sold separately. The lift can come with manual or power tranversing. The lift has two, four or six way functions allow for a variety of transfer and repositioning options. The slack strap sensor ensures the lift will not continue to unwind in the event that the client is not placed securely on the transfer surface.

The transactive RTR ("Room to Room") allows for transfers between rooms with no modifications to the door header.

The C-450 and C-625 come with standard features including a display with diagnostics and programming. The modular design can assist with maintenance. Emergency stop, power emergency lowering, manual emergency raising and lowering, audible low battery indicator, visual battery charge level display and auto shut off feature when not in use.

The lifts come with a pneumatic hand control, cord, and hook. The charger, and charger end stop are included in the base price. The carry bar must be purchased separately.

The 2200mm foot strap vertical movement allows a person to be lifted from the floor. The lift case is flame retardant and the hand control is pneumatic.

Lift motor and transverse motors are 24V DC, charger input is 120VAC, 1.0 Amps, charger output is 24 VDC, 1.5 Amps. The batteries are 24VDC, 5.0 AH.

Ceiling Tracks:
A range of ceiling tracks are available in a range of lengths, some can be customised. The tracks can be straight, 45 degree curve or 90 degree curve.
