Some retail outlets have wheelchair-accessible shopping trolleys available as a free service to their customers. We recommend contacting shopping centres or retail outlets directly to discuss the range of trolleys that are available.
Extra product information
There are various models of wheelchair accessible shopping trolleys. Some models are designed to manually attach to manual or power wheelchairs of various sizes via adjustable brackets. This enables synchronisation of the movements of the trolley and the wheelchair. These models can be operated regardless of whether the wheelchair user is alone or accompanied.
Some shopping trolleys have baskets which are not as deep as those of standard shopping trolleys, allowing space under the basket to accommodate the wheelchair user's legs and the wheelchair footplates. As these trolleys don't attach to the wheelchair, a wheelchair user who is not accompanied would need to coordinate maneuvering their wheelchair and the trolley.
Refer to the supplier and manufacturer manual for maintenance instructions and safety warnings.
