The Repose mattress overlay consists of two inflatable membranes which are breathable and multi stretch. The overlay is designed to fit a standard or profiling hospital or domestic bed. It comes packed inside a pump which enables it to be inflated and ready for use within seconds. Suitable for people at high risk of pressure sore development (supplier stated). The Repose Mattress Overlay can be purchased on its own or in a set with the cushion. Also available in a double size mattress option.

STRUCTURE
The overlay has a combination of two high technology urethane membranes. These are designed to provide effective pressure redistribution due to the multi directional stretchability of the materials which also reduces the risk of hammocking. The smooth surface reduces sheer and friction. The material is breathable, waterproof and resistant to microbes and fungi. The product is xray translucent.
ATTACHMENT
The mattress is fitted with an elasticated strap to ensure it remains firmly in place on both single and double beds.
PUMP
The pump valve ensures products are inflated to the correct pressure and cannot be over inflated. It is light and easy to use and has large air flow for rapid inflation.

Caution

All mattress overlays must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (eg correct choice and correct inflation level) , a different product may need to be considered.

Manufacturer states that maximum patient weight for double mattress overlay when used on a high specification foam mattress is 222kg. Double Mattress overlay when used on a non-high specification foam mattress is 139kg.
