A set of free standing armrests designed to assist a person to stand up from their bed. It consists of a steel U-shaped frame which is positioned under the bed so that the armrests attached are positioned where the person would be sitting (as for a chair). Armrests are removable and need to be repositioned during transfer. Can be fixed to the floor / bed or used freestanding.

Caution

Users need to be aware that there should be no gap between the mattress and the bedstick to prevent limbs (or other body parts) becoming trapped.

FRAME: 35mm square tubular steel (powder coated white) has mounting brackets for bed and floor.
ARMRESTS: 25mm round tubular steel padded with armaflex (black rubber tubing)

INSTALLATION:
The base of the frame is placed under the bed as far as possible with the armrests sitting over the bed. It should be in position where the user would naturally be sitting when getting out of bed.
If the frame is also to be used as a handle to assist lying to sitting, sitting to lying and / or turning over in bed, it needs to be fixed to the bed and / or floor for stability.
Mounting plates are provided on vertical section of frame (for fixing to bed) and base of frame (for fixing to floor).
The vertical mounting plates can easily be moved to the correct height for the bed.
Height of the armrests can be adjusted using an Allen key.

TO GET INTO BED:
With armrests over the bed, sit down on bed using the armrests as for a chair.
Remove armrest a foot end of bed (pulls straight out).
Lift and turn other armrest so that it is positioned with the horizontal part towards the head end of the bed (the armrests locks into position).
If fixed, the frame can be used like a bed stick to assist lying down. Changing the position of the armrests ensures the way is clear for lifting legs and lying down.

TO GET OUT OF BED:
If fixed, the frame can be used again for pulling to sit up.
Swing legs on to the floor and sit on side of bed (should be in between armrests.
Move armrests back into position over the bed.
Grip armrests with hands and use them as for a chair to assist standing.
