Talley Quattro Alternating Air Overlay Mattress (PR08515)
Quattro
https://ilcaustralia.org.au/products/8515
An electrically operated, alternating air mattress overlay system designed for pressure injury prevention and treatment for people at medium to high risk of developing a pressure injury. It consists of a pressure reducing layer of air cells operating on a 1:4 active cell cycle over a 15 minute cycle time or continuous low pressure. The removable two way stretch cover is vapour permeable and water resistant. The overlay mattress and cover are machine washable. It is available in single size however may be incorporated with foam for the partner to suit a double bed.
General Details
- Extra product information
The system consists of a portable pump unit, a pressure reducing underlay of air cells from plastic (polyurethane). The plastic (polyurethane) under layer is independently encased in a waterproof vapour permeable cover.
STRUCTURE: the overlay consists of individual air chambers. Each of cells cyclically inflate and deflate one at a time in each group, continually supporting the body on at least 75% of the mattress surface while the pressure on 25% of the body is relieved. The cycle time is 15 minutes.
Both the cell material and the cover are non allergenic, highly resistant to soaps and the detergents, and are fully washable for effective decontamination. Air is released and circulated under the cover to reduce humidity.
COVER: The removable cover is two way stretch, vapour permeable (breathable; to minimise perspiration), waterproof and fire retardant. Cover has skirt and welded seams to prevent fluids entering.
PUMP / CONTROLS: A separate, portable alternating pressure pump features an on / off switch and a manually operated pressure control dial which sets the required level of air pressure according to the user's weight. The pumps operate by supplying air on demand only, when the mattress requires it, reducing power consumption and extending service life. The pump can be hung on the bed by adjustable hanging brackets or stood on the floor.
MAXIMUM INFLATE FEATURE: When activated, the mattress will inflate to its maximum static pressure. This is useful when the alternating pressure function is not suitable; eg. during transfers or nursing procedures. This function will automatically deactivate after 15 minutes.
THERAPY MODE: changes mattress from active to reactive function; ie. maintains the mattress at a constant low pressure. This is useful for people who have an unstable fracture or are sensitive to the movement that occurs as the cells alternate through their cycles.
TRANSPORT: The connection hose can be disconnected from the pump and locked to maintain air pressure for transport of the mattress.
- Caution: Pressure Cushions & Mattresses
• All pressure reduction products must be monitored to prevent 'bottoming out'. This occurs when the user's weight bears down so hard on the product material that it is flattened and the bony parts are pressed against the surface below the cushion or mattress. Where bottoming out occurs even with correct use (e.g. correct inflation levels), a different product may need to be considered.
• Sometimes, due to the user deteriorating, the product may become unsuitable. Continuous monitoring is necessary and alternative products may be recommended.
• There are many things to consider when selecting pressure care products including nutrition, skin moisture, level of mobility, age shear, friction, location of pressure ulcer (if present) and hygiene. Any comments regarding level of pressure care is a suggestion made by suppliers as a guide to assist with selection, and this may differ from brand to brand. When selecting pressure care products it is strongly advised that a comprehensive assessment is undertaken by a health professional to encourage correct product selection and monitoring of product effectiveness
- Maintenance
Check the overlay daily for punctures or air loss.
In the event of failure of air cells to inflate or "low pressure fault" on display, check:
* power source is on / functional
* overlay is connected to pump and not in Transport Mode (green dot visible)
* CPR valve is closed
* air cells are all connected and nil punctures.Contact service centre / supplier for issues arising with pump or damage to air cells. Individual air cells can be removed for repair or replacement
- Options
Additional feature includes the ability to attach a Talley B.A.S.E. Sequential cushion. The pump will then manage both the overlay and the cushion. This allows the occupant to be transferred between the cushion and the overlay without the need to deflate and swap hoses.
A double bed mattress is also available, providing a supportive foam section for use by occupants partner.
