A customised bike program that modifies standard push bikes to enable children with disabilities to ride them

General Details

Extra product information

This program was initially developed by Technical Aid to the Disabled (TAD) NSW and is now running in NSW, SA, QLD and Vic.

Children are assessed at bike clinics using adjustable assessment bikes by a health professional in conjunction with TAD Technical members.

There is no cost for the therapist or for the TAD staff member's time but clients are asked to reimburse the cost of the bike and parts. The parts are designed to fit on a specific bike frame and will not mount properly on any other frame. Bike frames are supplied through the Freedom Wheels program at a lower than recommended retail price.

Modifications available include; postural supports, outriggers (trainer wheels), hi-risers, U-frame, footcups, special handlebars, gloves and handmitts.
